The term 'ERSE' is a collective term for the languages spoken in Ireland and Scotland. It includes IRISH (5 letters), GAELIC (6 letters), CELT (4 letters) and CELTIC (6 letters). IRISH and GAELIC are two distinct languages, both of which are part of the Goidelic branch of the CELTIC language family. CELT and CELTIC are often used interchangeably to refer to the same language, which is also known as Insular CELTIC. All four of these languages are closely related and share many similarities.
