Erica Jong is an American author, poet, and essayist. She is best known for her 1973 novel Fear of Flying, which has been translated into more than 30 languages and sold over 27 million copies worldwide. Her other works include the poetry collections Fruits & Vegetables (1971) and Half-Lives (1973), as well as the novels How to Save Your Own Life (1977), Any Woman's Blues (1990), and Sappho's Leap (2003). She has also written several non-fiction books, including the memoir Fear of Fifty (1994).
