Erato and her sisters were the nine MUSES of Greek mythology. Erato was the Muse of lyric poetry, while her sisters were each associated with a different form of art or science. The other MUSES were Calliope (epic poetry), Clio (history), Euterpe (music), Melpomene (tragedy), Polyhymnia (hymns), Terpsichore (dance), Thalia (comedy), and Urania (astronomy). Together, they were seen as the source of all knowledge and inspiration.
