Abelard was an eminent 12th-century philosopher, best known for his works on logic and theology. He was born in 1079 in Le Pallet, France, and is considered one of the most influential thinkers of the Middle Ages. ABELARD wrote several books, including Sic et Non, which explored the contradictions between Christian faith and reason. He also wrote a number of letters and poems, and is credited with introducing the use of dialectic in philosophy.
