The term 'Anglo-Egyptian Sudan' refers to a period in history when the British and Egyptian governments jointly controlled the region of Sudan. This period lasted from 1899 to 1956, when Sudan gained its independence. During this time, the British and Egyptian governments had a shared responsibility for the administration of Sudan. The Anglo-Egyptian Sudan was divided into two parts: the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium in the north and the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan in the south.
