Egyptian statesman Anwar Sadat was a prominent leader in the 20th century. He served as the third President of Egypt from 1970 until his assassination in 1981. During his presidency, he led Egypt in the 1973 Arab-Israeli War and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978 for his efforts to create peace in the Middle East.
