Edward James Olmos is an American actor, director, producer, and activist. He is best known for his roles in the films Stand and Deliver, Blade Runner, and Selena, as well as his portrayal of Detective Gaff in the 1982 film Blade Runner. He has also had a successful career on television, winning an Emmy Award for his role in the miniseries American Family and a Golden Globe Award for his role in the television series Miami Vice. Olmos has been involved in numerous social causes, including environmental protection, immigration reform, and education.
