Eddie Van Halen was a Dutch-American musician, songwriter, and producer who is widely regarded as one of the most influential guitarists in the history of rock music. He was the co-founder and lead guitarist of the hard rock band Van Halen, which he formed with his brother, drummer Alex Van Halen, bassist Mark Stone, and singer David Lee Roth. Eddie Van Halen was known for his innovative and often complex guitar solos and techniques, such as two-handed tapping and dive bombing. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
