The economist Robert Engle is an American economist and Nobel Laureate who is best known for his work on the analysis of financial volatility. He is a professor at New York University's Stern School of Business and was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2003 for his contributions to the development of ARCH models. Engle has also been a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1980.
