Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) is a time zone that is observed in the eastern part of North America during the summer months. It is four hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST). EDT is used from March to November, when clocks are set one hour forward from EST. During this period, the sun rises and sets one hour later than it does during EST.
