The Earth Summit Site was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992. It was a United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) that brought together representatives from over 178 countries to discuss sustainable development. The conference was attended by over 17, 000 people, including heads of state, UN officials, and nongovernmental organizations. The summit resulted in the adoption of Agenda 21, a comprehensive plan of action to build a global partnership for sustainable development.
