The early Soviet leader was Vladimir Lenin, who was a Russian revolutionary, politician, and political theorist. He served as head of government of the Russian Soviet Republic from 1917 to 1922 and of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1924. Lenin was instrumental in the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 and the establishment of the Soviet Union. He is considered one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.
