The ear is an important organ for hearing and balance. It is composed of several parts, including the DRUMS, anvils, lobes, cobs, canals, and tragi. The DRUMS, also known as the tympanic membrane, are a thin membrane that vibrates when sound waves enter the ear. Anvils, or incus, are small bones that transmit sound vibrations from the DRUMS to the other parts of the ear. Lobes are the fleshy parts of the ear that are visible on the outside. Cobs, or malleus, are another type of small bone that transmits sound vibrations from the DRUMS to the anvils. Canals, or auditory canals, are the passageways that lead from the outer ear to the eardrum. Finally, tragi, or earlobes, are the fleshy parts of the ear that hang down from the head. Together, these parts work together to help us hear and maintain balance.
