The French dramatist Jean-Paul Sartre (6 letters) was a philosopher, novelist, playwright, and political activist. He is best known for his existentialist philosophy, which focused on the idea of freedom and responsibility. He wrote plays such as No Exit and The Flies, and novels such as Nausea and Being and Nothingness. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1964, but he declined it. He was also a prominent figure in the French Resistance during World War II.
