MARC Connelly was a dramatist, playwright, and director who lived from 1890 to 1980. He is best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Green Pastures, which was adapted into a film in 1936. He also wrote the book for the musical comedy George White's Scandals, which ran on Broadway for two years. Connelly was a member of the Algonquin Round Table, a group of writers, actors, and critics who met regularly at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City. He was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1970.
