Antal Dorati was a Hungarian-born conductor and composer who is best known for his work with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. He was also the first conductor to record all of the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Joseph Haydn. Dorati was a prolific recording artist, and his recordings of works by Igor Stravinsky, Claude Debussy, and Maurice Ravel are highly regarded. He was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Classical Performance in 1976.
