Lorna Doone is a romance novel written by English author Richard Doddridge Blackmore in 1869. It is set in the late 17th century in Exmoor, England and tells the story of the love between Lorna, an aristocratic girl, and John Ridd, a yeoman farmer. The novel follows the two as they struggle against the lawless Doones, a clan of exiled Scottish aristocrats who have taken over a valley in Exmoor. The novel is considered to be one of the most popular works of Victorian literature and has been adapted into several films and television series.
