The term 'Divided Asian Nation' refers to the nation of KOREA, which has been divided into two separate countries since the end of World War II. The Korean peninsula was divided into North and South KOREA in 1945, with the Soviet Union occupying the north and the United States occupying the south. Since then, the two countries have remained separated by a heavily fortified border, known as the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Despite ongoing tensions between the two countries, there have been some efforts to reunify the peninsula, including the signing of the 2018 Panmunjom Declaration.
