DIVER'S DANGER is a term used to describe the risk of decompression sickness, also known as 'the bends', which can occur when a diver ascends too quickly from deep water. The bends is caused by nitrogen bubbles forming in the bloodstream due to the rapid decrease in pressure. Symptoms can range from mild joint pain to paralysis and death. To avoid this, divers must ascend slowly and make safety stops at certain depths to allow their bodies to adjust to the changing pressure.
