The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is a United States government agency that provides disaster relief and emergency assistance to individuals, families, and communities affected by disasters. FEMA is the primary organization responsible for coordinating the response to major disasters, both natural and man-made, in the United States. FEMA works with state and local governments, as well as private organizations, to provide resources and assistance to those affected by disasters. FEMA also provides grants to state and local governments to help them prepare for and respond to disasters.
