Roman Polanski is a Polish-French film director, producer, writer, and actor. He is best known for his films Rosemary's Baby (1968), Chinatown (1974), and The Pianist (2002). Polanski has been the recipient of numerous awards, including an Academy Award for Best Director for The Pianist. He has also been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards and four BAFTA Awards. Polanski has been the subject of much controversy due to his personal life, including his arrest and conviction in 1977 for the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl.
