Alan Pakula was an American film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for his work in the 1970s, directing films such as Klute, The Parallax View, All the President's Men, and Sophie's Choice. Pakula was nominated for three Academy Awards and won the BAFTA Award for Best Direction for All the President's Men. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Director for Sophie's Choice.
