Cecil B. DeMille was an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. He is best known for directing epic films such as The Ten Commandments (1956) and The Greatest Show on Earth (1952). He was one of the most commercially successful filmmakers of all time and was nominated for three Academy Awards. He was also a founding member of the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences.
