A direction indicator is a device used to indicate the direction of a certain location or object. The most common direction indicators are a COMPASS, SIGNPOST, VANE, ARROW, and EARSHOT. A COMPASS is a navigational instrument used to determine direction relative to the Earth's magnetic poles. A SIGNPOST is a post with a sign attached to it that indicates the direction and distance to a certain location. A VANE is a device that uses the wind to indicate the direction of the wind. An ARROW is a symbol used to indicate direction. EARSHOT is the distance at which one can hear another person speaking.
