A Dime Portrait is a type of portrait created by the United States Mint in 1936. It was commissioned by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was commonly referred to as FDR, and featured his face on the dime. The portrait was designed by John R. Sinnock, the eighth Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. The portrait was used on the dime until 1945, when it was replaced by a new design featuring President Roosevelt's successor, Harry S. Truman.
