Digestive fluid is a term used to describe the various liquids that are produced by the digestive system in order to help break down food and absorb nutrients. The three main digestive fluids are SALIVA, BILE, and ACID. SALIVA is a watery substance produced by the salivary glands that helps to moisten food and contains enzymes that begin the digestion of carbohydrates. BILE is a greenish-yellow fluid produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder that helps to break down fats. ACID is a strong liquid produced by the stomach that helps to break down proteins. All three of these digestive fluids play an important role in the digestion process.
