Len Deighton is an English author, journalist and broadcaster who is best known for his spy novels. His most famous work is the IPCRESS File, which was published in 1962 and made into a film starring Michael Caine in 1965. The novel follows the story of an unnamed British agent as he investigates a kidnapping case. The title of the novel is an acronym for 'Intelligence, Protection, Counter-Espionage, Revenge, Extortion and Sabotage'.
