Elsie de Wolfe was an American actress, interior decorator, and a prominent figure in the American and European society during the early 20th century. She is credited with being the first professional interior decorator and is known for popularizing the 'MODERN' or 'American' style of interior design. She was also a successful stage actress and was the first woman to be inducted into the New York Interior Design Hall of Fame.
