Declaring a saint is the process of officially recognizing an individual as a saint in the Catholic Church. This is done through a process known as canonization, which is the act of officially recognizing a person as a saint. Canonization requires a lengthy process of investigation and evaluation by the Church to determine if the individual is worthy of being declared a saint. Canonization can also be referred to as CANONISE or CANONIZE.
