The term DECIMATED SEA is a reference to the ARAL Sea, which was once one of the four largest lakes in the world. Located between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the ARAL Sea has been drastically reduced in size due to the diversion of its feeder rivers for irrigation purposes. This has caused the salinity of the water to increase, leading to the decimation of the sea's fish population and other wildlife.
