A death notice is a public announcement of the passing of an individual. An OBIT, or OBITUARY, is a more detailed account of the life and death of the deceased. An OBIT is typically published in a newspaper or other publication and includes information such as the date and place of birth, education, career, family members, and other details about the deceased's life. An OBITUARY may also include a brief description of the funeral service and burial.
