Agnes de Mille was an American dancer and choreographer who is best known for her work in musical theatre. She was a pioneer in the development of American ballet, and her works are still performed today. She won a Tony Award for her choreography in the musical Oklahoma! and was nominated for an Academy Award for her work in the film The Red Shoes. De Mille was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1972.
