The play 'Cyrano de BERGERAC' by Edmond Rostand is a classic French romantic comedy. The main character, Cyrano, is a poet and swordsman who is in love with his cousin Roxane, but is too ashamed of his large NOSE to declare his love. Cyrano helps his friend Christian win Roxane's heart, while secretly pining for her himself. Cyrano's rival is the handsome but shallow Comte de Guiche, and his friend is the musketeer Le Bret. Cyrano also has a sister, Lise, and a protector, Ragueneau. The play was adapted into a movie in 1950, starring Jose Ferrer as Cyrano and Mala Powers as Roxanne.
