Adela was the daughter of William the Conqueror, who was the first Norman King of England. She was born in 1062 and was the fourth child of William and Matilda of Flanders. Adela was known for her piety and charitable works, and she was a patron of the arts. She married Stephen, Count of Blois, in 1090 and had four children. Adela died in 1137 and was buried at the Abbey of Notre Dame des Pres in Caen, France.
