The poem is written in the form of a 'Sestina', a poetic form consisting of six stanzas of six lines each. Dante's work has been highly influential in literature and art, and he is often referred to as the 'Father of the Italian language'. His contemporary, Gabriele Rossetti, was an Italian POET and scholar who wrote several works inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy.
