Gene Kelly was an American dancer, actor, singer, film director, producer, and choreographer. He was known for his energetic and athletic dancing style, his good looks, and the likable characters that he played on screen. He starred in many classic films such as Singin' in the Rain and An American in Paris. He was also a pioneer in what is now known as music video, with his short film Invitation to the Dance. He was awarded an honorary Academy Award in 1952 for his career achievements.
