Carl Sagan was an American astronomer, astrophysicist, cosmologist, author, and science communicator. He is best known for his work as a science popularizer and communicator, and he wrote the book 'COSMOS' which was published in 1980. Sagan was also the writer, producer, and narrator of the 1980 television series 'COSMOS: A Personal Voyage'. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction in 1978 for his book 'The Dragons of Eden: Speculations on the Evolution of Human Intelligence'. Sagan's contributions to science, popular culture, and the public understanding of science have been widely recognized, and he is often referred to as 'The Father of Popular Science'.
