He also had roles in films such as The Killers, The Naked Jungle, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. His nickname, 'Fatman', was given to him due to his large frame. He was also known for his work as a voice actor, providing the voices of characters such as Bullwinkle J. Moose, Rocky the Flying Squirrel, and Captain Midnight. He was married to Mary Bain from 1945 until his death in 1994. He had two children with her, including actor Richard AIKEN. He was also married to actress Virginia Nagel from 1951 until his death.
