A confidence trick, also known as a CON, SCAM, FRAUD, or RUSE, is a deceptive act performed by someone in order to gain money, property, or other material goods from another person. It involves the perpetrator making false promises or misrepresenting themselves in order to convince the victim to part with their money or possessions. The perpetrator may also use psychological manipulation to convince the victim that they are getting a good deal or that they are helping out a friend or family member.
