Otto Klemperer was a German-born conductor and composer who is widely regarded as one of the most influential conductors of the 20th century. He was known for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Brahms, and Wagner, among others. Klemperer was also a prolific recording artist, having made over 200 recordings during his career. He was appointed music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1933, and held the position until 1939. He later served as music director of the New York Philharmonic from 1947 to 1949. Klemperer's legacy continues to this day, with many of his recordings still being released and performed.
