Computer game pioneer Atari is a company that was founded in 1972 by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. It is credited with creating the first commercially successful video game, Pong, and is considered to be the pioneer of the modern video game industry. Atari went on to produce a number of other popular games, such as Asteroids and Centipede, and released the first home video game console, the Atari 2600.
