Composer Jerome Kern was an American songwriter and composer who wrote hundreds of songs for Broadway musicals and Hollywood films. He is best known for his collaborations with lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, which included the musicals Show Boat and Oklahoma!. Kern was also a pioneer in the development of American musical theater, and his influence on the genre is still felt today. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
