Edward Elgar was an English composer of the late Romantic era. He is best known for his orchestral works, including the Enigma Variations and the Pomp and Circumstance Marches. Elgar also composed choral works, chamber music, and songs. He was appointed Master of the King's Musick in 1924 and was knighted in 1904.
