A communication satellite, also known as COMSAT, is an artificial satellite that relays and amplifies radio telecommunications signals through a transponder; it creates a communication channel between a source transmitter and a receiver at different locations on Earth. Communication satellites are used for television, telephone, radio, internet, and military applications. They are used for broadcasting messages to a wide range of recipients and can be used to transmit data to and from remote locations on the Earth.
