Anne Meara was an American actress, comedian, and writer. She was best known as a stand-up comedian and one half of the comedy duo Stiller and Meara with her husband Jerry Stiller. She was also an Emmy Award-nominated actress, appearing in numerous television series, most notably Rhoda and Archie Bunker's Place. Meara was also a successful playwright, writing the plays After-Play and The Other Room. She was inducted into the New York Friars Club in 2002.
