Mort Sahl was a Canadian-born American comedian and actor. He was one of the first modern stand-up comedians, and is widely regarded as the father of modern political satire. He was known for his sharp wit and often controversial material, which he delivered in a distinctive deadpan style. He was also an early pioneer of the 'MONOLOGUE' style of comedy, which has since become a staple of late-night talk shows.
