A Colosseum fighter, or GLADIATOR, was an armed combatant who fought in the Roman Colosseum for the entertainment of the public. Gladiators were usually slaves, prisoners of war, or condemned criminals who were forced to fight each other or wild animals. They were trained in various weapons and tactics and were expected to put on a show for the audience. The fights were often to the death, and the victor was rewarded with fame and fortune.
