Click beetles, also known as elaters, are a family of beetles that are characterized by their ability to flick themselves into the air when disturbed. They are also known as elaterids and belong to the family Elateridae. They have long, slender bodies and can range in size from 1/4 inch to 1-1/2 inches in length. They are usually brown or black in color and have a distinct clicking sound when they jump. Click beetles are found all over the world and feed on a variety of plants and insects.
