Roberto Clemente was a professional baseball player from Puerto Rico who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1955 to 1972. He was an outfielder and was known for his strong throwing arm. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973, making him the first Latin American and Caribbean player to be enshrined. He was also the first player to receive the Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award in 1973. He was nicknamed 'The Great One' and was known for his humanitarian work.
