Cicero, e.g. was a ROMAN SENATOR, ORATOR, STOIC philosopher, and rhetorician. He was born in 106 BC and served as a consul in 63 BC. He is considered one of the greatest orators and prose stylists of the ROMAN Republic. He was also a prolific writer and his works are still studied today. He was a major influence on the development of Western political thought and is remembered for his advocacy of republicanism and his defense of traditional ROMAN religious practices. He was also a proponent of Stoicism, which he believed could help people live a more virtuous life. He wrote extensively on rhetoric, ethics, and politics, and his works remain influential to this day.
